Digital Marketing strategies to assist you keep in touch with your customers

So the question I keep getting every day at the moment as a digital marketer is, how is business, and should I stop my advertising on Facebook?

Facebook advertising has decreased by approximately 25% as of March 19th, 2020. This is due to specific industries stopping Facebook advertising campaigns such as the travel industry, restaurants, and events. Now for business sectors such as e-commerce, online businesses, trades and online entertainment, this is a great time to advertise! The average lead cost has dropped by almost 50%.

The opportunity for business at the moment is people are now working from home and not going out, apart from grocery shopping and attending urgent appointments. People are looking to entertain themselves, so advertising on Facebook will gain you more ad impressions and lead conversions because people are spending more time online. So if your one of the business listed above, now is the time to advertise!

So what should you do as a business when it comes to your marketing?

Here are our tips to prepare your marketing activity during the Coronavirus downturn.

1. Work smarter to retain your existing customer base.

It's cheaper to retain your existing customer base than acquire new ones. Give your customers a call and touch base. See how they are and see if you can help them.
2. Get more visible in front of your potential clients.

You have to build your brand awareness and get more visibility during this period, which means driving your visitor to your website to make sales. Areas to review are your SEO, write relevant blogs, and revisit your content on your website. Maybe you need to update your website with pertinent information surrounding the COVID-19.

3. Focus on driving conversions.

A low cost, high impact digital marketing technique is to focus on conversion rate optimisation. Small incremental changes will encourage website visitors into customers.
4. Get more social.

Communicate with your customers through social media.
Engage with your customers on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, or even do a video on Youtube. Creating a low-cost plan for reaching out to your customers at every touch point in your social funnel is really important.

Now is the time to be posting every day on your Facebook page and increase your followers. With the organic reach now at around 2 to 3%, increasing your followers is really important. Make a seven-day social media schedule ahead of time with topics related to your business. This can be topics around new products, services, achievements, events such as a conference, or highlighting an employee each week.

I would suggest using a program such as Hootsuite or Buffer to schedule your posts at certain times of the day. The peak periods for posting on a weekday, according to Hootsuite, are 12 pm to 3 pm. Weekends are 1 pm to 2 pm. If you’re marketing to an audience that doesn’t stick to a 9 to 5 work schedule, these posting times probably likely won’t be as effective.

Your posts must fit around three areas. Your posts must be engaging, entertaining, and educational. Mix it up, and don't forget humor such as a funny meme always has a great response with shares. Just make sure the memes are related to your business. Social proof in photos is also essential. This shows that your business is real and cares about what they do as well as supporting your employees.
